Dodge City - Kansas - SPT Architecture
Following the successful construction of Becker Hall a newly built student dormitory for DCCC, the college contracted with Simpson again this time to completely strip the existing Sheldon Hall back to the cladding and structure.
The interior was completely reconfigured with a focus on increasing the marketability of the residence. Increasing the size of the rooms and providing private bathrooms taking the number of beds down from 148 to 91. The reduction in occupancy also relieved the existing undersized communal study and lounge areas.
With new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and thermally insulated windows the building is now far more efficient reducing the operating cost for the college.
